Life Enrichment at Verve:
Java Memory Care

Java Memory Care is an evolution of our successful Java Music Club, designed for those living with mid- to late-stage dementia. Java Memory Care creates a supportive, inclusive and compassionate environment that helps cultivate emotional engagement and enhance meaningful resident-to-resident interactions. It also includes a calming “getting centered” practice and innovative approaches to peer support using adapted themes, photography, music and readings.

LIVING LOVING LOCAL

November’s star ingredient: Salmon

Long lauded for being packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids and its high protein content, delicious fresh salmon is our star ingredient in this month’s Living Loving Local menu.

Salmon is thought to help decrease the risk of diabetes, heart disease, as well as support good thyroid functioning and cholesterol levels. Salmon is also known to help brain and cognitive processes thanks to its fatty acid content, so we’re serving up a wonderful salmon recipe for you to try!

On the Blog

Navigating Alzheimer’s is challenging and uncertain for both the person living with the effects of the disease, as well as the family members, friends and caregivers. As a family member or caregiver of someone living with Alzheimer’s, a good first step is arming yourself with the most information possible, and since moving into a residence right away isn’t always possible or the best course of action immediately, there are ways to stay living in a familiar and comfortable place safely. Read about ways to live safely with Alzheimer’s on the Verve Inspiring Stories blog.

TESTIMONIAL

“For over six years, Gilmore Gardens has been my beautiful home. Our housekeeping staff, dining room staff, Chef Val and his assistants, the Life Enrichment team, and our capable Building Supervisor are excellent. They listen and pull off miracles to make every day memorable for all my Gilmore neighbours. This is definitely the place to be.”
