Programs and services to help The dementia journey is a difficult one. The Alzheimer Society of York Region (AS York) is here to offer support, guidance and a listening ear. The organization also provides programs and services to help including: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program for Caregivers of Persons Living with Dementia (online) Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has been shown to be effective for managing stress. The MBSR program includes formal meditation practices and mindful movement exercises drawn from yoga, with options to modify movements and poses for comfort and safety. Eight-week course Wednesdays from June 8 to July 27 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Orientation, Wednesday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Four-hour online silent retreat Saturday, July 16. People familiar with AS York will read about familiar programs and services as well as people and experiences. Jennifer is the caregiver of her husband, Feroze, who lives with Alzheimer’s disease.
